Designing the Event Space Request Experience
Background
The client provides event space that people can request for their events and meetings. The current form that people used to request event space needed an update to meet the new client requirements. This project overview covers the process and outcome in updating the user flow for requesting an event space to meet the new requirements and opportunities.
I completed this project as a UX Designer for a design agency. I worked with the CEO, a developer, and visual designer.
Responsibilities
Assisted with organizing and updating the user flow for requesting an event space to meet new client requirements and bring in team ideas.
Assisted with stakeholder interviews.
Assisted with putting together the documentation for developer hand off.
Methods and Tools
Figma, Stakeholder Interviews, Competitive Analysis, Team Brainstorm and Feedback Sessions
The Opportunity
The client was going through a website redesign. The redesign provided an opportunity to add information about the event request process that people would call in about that was not originally on the website. The goal with the opportunity was to provide another option for people to find the information they needed when researching event spaces.
Solution
We brainstormed information that helped people during the journey of when they are gathering research on event space options. Then, we organized new information into the current user flow based on where people would likely find and need that information. New opportunities introduced were information to know what rooms looked like, max occupancy, and room availability.
Process
We started the process with learning about the client’s goals and the main people who were requesting for event space. Next, we researched and ideated opportunities for the current user flow for requesting an event space and where those new opportunities would go within the current user flow. Then, we presented the solution and recommendations to the client for feedback and iterated based on feedback. Lastly, we prepared the design files and documentation for developer handoff. We repeated this process until reaching a version of the event request ready to release for use.
Outcome
We turned the current event request form into a resource that people could use when researching about their event space options.
What I Learned
From this project, I learned how technology constraints can help with brainstorming either quick to build solutions or for finding new opportunities.
